Web services are a pain.  I have spent more time on this than any other project in my entire school life.  Everybody complains how hard inorganic chemistry is, but they should have to take this class.  Luckily I get more than enough vacation that I can burn the next 4 days working on this project.  Our company just went live with SAP and this project is a good excuse to not deal with all the problems in our department.

I sure hope I can get this thing working before next tuesday.

also, as a side note, activesync will not work with Vista Home Premium 64.  It errors out, but it will work with Vista Business 32 - people just need to download the activesync patches for the VPN in business.

I changed from compsci to chemistry in 2002.  I  got so pissed as when I tried to get things working on programs, I changed to something I may have more fun with.   Chemistry is great, I get to build things, blow things up, and play god with tiny molecules.  I am only stuck in my cubicle for 2 hours/day and the remaining time I am in a lab.

I have only gotten one lab to work right so far, one assignment, and highly doubt my 4th lab will work right.  Everything looks fine, but for whatever reason the program keeps saying there is a security violation and I was booted by the remote service I was connecting to.

Nothing is as irrtitating as computers, and when there's no NASCAR on sunday.

My project will require importing data from a source file.  Possibly using the web services we talked about in class, but it seemes that Microsoft has a decent section on how to import data into VB.  I'll have to see if I can copy some code, tailor it to my needs, and run it.  I just need to figure out yet how to write an xml file with the information I need. Check out the Microsoft site if anybody else needs info on doing this.

Time to go, Green flag is back out at bristol.

Does anybody know hoe to pull information from an excel speadsheet and compile it within a program in VB2005?  I am thinking about writing a program that can take piece rates and do statisitic calculations and provide outputs that are needed.  I know excel or minitab can do everything, but I need some type of end of semester project to do and thought this would work good.

Wisconsin stinks.  We still don't have any salt at the local highway department, in fact all 4 barns are empty.  At least the sun is out and melting some of this stuff.  Hopefully within 6 weeks the grass will be growing and I can spend all my time at the golf course.  I still have to run down there before March 1st to get the special for the season pass.  Only $955 this year at Town and Country in Sheboygan.

Time to go practice my putting.

Manitowoc county has finally run out of salt.  I guess we are in the same situation as Milwaukee now.  It really sucks cause it has been raining here for the last 12 hours and everything is covered in a sheet of ice.  I can't believe that I still have power.  Being on the end of a branch instead of in a loop for electricity really stinks.  Always flickers and goes out at least a dozen times a year.

I had some extra time and finished the translator program so it works fairly decent.  Just got that J drive to work right on Vista.

Time to go.  Daytona is about to start.

This is the first blog I have ever written.  I got VB2005 working great for Vista.  There were no problems whatsoever by downloading the file from Microsoft.  Except it was about 6 gig and took 8 hours.  The J drive is another story.  I can get into the system, but Vista doesn't allow it to connect like it does for XP, so I can't upload a file at this time.

Hopefully getting the J drive to work is the last headache I'll have to endure before graduation.
