I was not sure if we are supposed to enter this information on the blog or send it
via email but here are the two things that I learned from the article:
Learned #1: The entire article re: PDA's and smart devices' capabilities are all new
to me. I had no idea that they had so many abilities, as far linking them to companies
main sources. I was fully aware of their personal usage abilities such as searching
for info on the web and etc. I recall seeing a film in Elementary school that talked
about advanced technology and it just seems that alot of it is available for the public
right now, soon we wont need to go into the office at all. Sounds wonderful! :0)
Question #1: I was just wondering how would this impact IT people? Are more of them
going to be needed? At this point, corporations probably have their own IT staff on
hand, but are some of the smaller companies starting to look into hiring their own
IT staff vs. contracting it out and having them come in only when their is an issue?
Learned #2. I learned that businesses were not taking advantage of the PDA's and smartphones
as much as they could at this point. I often see a number of professionals with the
high tech phones and etc and assumed that they were using for "real time" data for
their companies.
Question #1: This leads me to my first question...why arent business willing to invest
in the products and make the changes, considering that it will enhance productivity
and their competitive abilities? is this due to the upfront expenses the
companies will have to endure with getting the software and hardware needed to integrate
the systems?
